Marcopolo Rail, responsible for the manufacture of two vehicles that will be part of GRU's People Movers system, has begun to deliver the first compositions, as they circulate between the terminals of the São Paulo International Airport, in Guarulhos, and to the train station on Line 13 Jade, from CPTM, Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos do Estado de São Paulo.
The first composition will arrive in the city of São Paulo on March 30, 2024. The People Mover model, called Aeromóvel A200, is composed of two cars, in a composition of 24.7 meters of compartment, with the capacity to transport up to 2 thousand people per hour, in each direction. The vehicle has automatic opening of identified doors and easy access, air conditioning, anti-fog system, emergency exit at each vehicle head for disembarking on the road, space reserved for people with reduced mobility and access to the internal area facilitated, such as wide portals.
“The passageways are equipped with 100% automated rolling stock, with a high level of comfort, safety and control carried out by the Operational Control Center (CCO), exempting the presence of a driver in the vehicle cabin. Internally, the layout was developed to facilitate and optimize the flow of entry and exit of people at the Airport,” explains Petras Amaral Santos, Executive Manager of Marcopolo Rail.
According to Santos, “the development and production process includes an industrial pavilion specially created for the assembly of People Movers, in addition to a specialized production team. Marcopolo Rail Engineering, in turn, dedicated many hours to the project, always focused on overcoming the challenges of developing a special product (customized to a client) and bringing to the market a reliable solution of international quality.” All materials, components and Foram equipment developed in accordance with specific standards for metrorail systems. “Our trains are manufactured following specific sector standards, or include structural tests that are intended to guarantee durability and robustness throughout the life cycle, in addition to compliance with fire and smoking standards. We have quality controls in all manufacturing processes, such as for example the quality control of welds (N2).
The vehicles manufactured by Marcopolo Rail, in addition to 100% national production, are also characterized by a high rate of nationalization of two components. Marcopolo currently produces in its factories various subsystems, such as seats and the entire interior of two vehicles, in addition to external coverings, in compliance with international railway standards. “Marcopolo is prepared as an industry and constantly invested to serve the railway sector, generating growth potential in Brazil and other Latin American countries. Our railway industrial pavilhão, for example, was modernized and expanded in 2023, considering planned volumes in the VLTs and Regional Trains segments, fashions that we also have in our portfolio. ”In October 2023 we will start producing 3 sets of 2 cars for EFE of Chile, with our Prosper model, to be delivered in the 2nd half of 2024”.
In addition to delivering the first composition of the People Mover of Guarulhos in January, Marcopolo Rail will also deliver in the sequence of more than two compositions.
